An aviator who specialised in stunt flying, parachuting and performing aerial tricks. Coleman was the first black woman to earn a pilot’s license and black person to hold an international pilot’s license. This was achieved by moving to France and self taught herself French, earning her license from France’s Caudron Brother’s School of Aviation as flying schools in the United States denied her entry.
