An American mathematician inducted into the United States Air Force Hall of Fame in 2018, recognised for her mathematical modeling contributions in the Earth science of accurately measuring and understanding Earth’s geometric shape, orientation in space and gravitational field, known as geodesy. Her work on the development of the satellite geodesy models would go on to be incorporated into the Global Positioning System (GPS) we use today.
